My 2006 Harley -Davidson September 19th, 2006 To Whom it May Concern: I am writing this letter to address a recent problem I experienced with a new motorcycle, I currently own a 1955 Harley-Davidson Panhead...and recently sold my 2000 FLHRCI and I purchased a 2006 FXDLI from Arrowhead Harley in Arizona I have been riding motorcycles for over 25 years and have always found Harley-Davidson motorcycles to be solid, reliable... motorcycles. Your mission statement notes the company fulfills dreams through the experience of motorcycling. I have found this to be true and recently rode with my father, an avid life-long Harley-Davidson rider, from Phoenix, Arizona to Washington state, where I currently reside. The ride was one that I will remember for the rest of my life and the time with my father will be something I will always cherish. Unfortunately approximately 150 miles from my home, the 2006 Harley... broke down. The area in which the motorcycle broke down was approximately 100 miles from the nearest Harley shop. I made it off the highway to a Napa auto parts store where I began to try to find the electrical problem, all of the fuses were good so I bought a screwdriver to take the seat off and check the battery, I found nothing out of order so I pulled the plugs and cleaned them, still no luck, I then contacted a tow truck and as they loaded the motorcycle they dropped it off of the trailer denting the side of the motorcycle... At this point I was trying my hardest to stay calm, I ended up purchasing new heavy duty straps to tow the motorcycle safely and was eventually towed to Yakima, Washington for service. They were prompt and made time for my repair, After the shop repaired the electrical problem (my fathers' bike had the same problem previously) I began my two hour trip home although by now it was extremely windy and had started to rain. The towing bill was $323.10. the screwdriver was $15.07 and the straps that I had to purchase were $48.44. It has been a very frustrating experience for me as the motorcycle had only been purchased six months before and is a 2006 model and this was my first ride. The motorcycle should not have had any mechanical problems and I do not feel that I should be held responsible for the resulting towing bills. To resolve the problem, I am hopeful Harley Davidson will stand by their customer service reputation and reimburse the expenses I incurred. I have enclosed a copy of the towing bill as well as the screwdriver and tow straps Harley Davidson told me to pound sand on this! They said towing is not covered, all I wanted was reimbursement for that....I didn't even get into all of the other expenses and grief I experienced.... DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY!!!!
