Cox Communication not Communicating

We had Cox Cable Service for 16 years. When we started, it was a little building in Rogers, Arkansas, only a few blocks away. After 16 years, we moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas and had our service transferred to the new address. Because we could not get DSL, we added internet service. Cox uses the last 4 digits of your SS# to verify who you are. Apparently at some point, it was keyed into a new system incorrectly. We had no way of knowing when. When I called in to change the address and set up for internet, I was told the SS# was 1 digit off, but they went ahead and made the change. Our account being bank drafted, they double-charged us over $200. I thought this a mistake and called them. THAT was the mistake. To be a communications company, Cox fails miserably. I am stuck with an account I cannot delete because my 4 digit SS# doesn't match, I can't stop from EFT. I was told by all the representatives to go to my local office. No address or number was given and I cannot find it. The old office is long since abandoned. This company has gone corporate on our dollars and it is growing on our dollars. But is it legal?
