Cotswold Company

None of this is untruthful but, you may think it is. The problem is that I have 3 pages of writing detailing how bad The Cotswold Company are - far too much information to regurgitate here. I ordered a product from this company on 23/8 for agreed delivery on the 8/9 (my wife took a days holiday) - they didnt arrive. It was meant to be redelivered on 12/8 - she took another days holiday from work. She called them on the 11/9 to double check it would be delivered - they assured her it would arrive before 16.30 on the 12/9. She called on the afternoon of 12/9 to check again - this time she was told it would be there before 20.30. At 20.45 the delivery driver called from Woking (45 minutes away) to say that he had run out of tachometer and so couldnt deliver. I called Cotswold and was told by Annie that she would refund the delivery charge and look into compensation for my wife who had now wasted 2 days holiday - she said because of this the complaint would be 'escalated' (which in Cotswold's case actually means 'ignored') and thus I would be called the very next day. The next day, when I hadnt heard anything, I called Cotswold at 14.30 (Daryl), explained that I wasnt happy that no-one had called and wanted a call by 17.30 that same day otherwise I would cancel my order - I was not called. At 17.45 I called Cotswold, waited the obligatory 15 minutes and gave up. I called again at 18.05, waited 5 minutes and spoke to Iffy who told me he couldnt do anything as 'there are no management in tonight.' I called again at 18.25 and spoke to Sharon who told me that Cindy (Call Centre Supervisor - ooh, that naughty Iffy had been telling fibs to me) would call me back. She didnt. on 14/9 I called the Cotswold store in Guildford and spoke to Andy (store manager) who looked into the matter and called me back (give him his dues, he was the ONLY one to have called me back to date) to confirm what I already knew - that I had cancelled my order! So I called Cotswold again (Daryl) and asked to speak to James Francis (name appears on our original order confirmation) but was told that he doesnt take calls and that I would have to write in. I asked for Annie (not in until 18.00, asked for another team leader (both in meetings) - spoke to Linda who told me that my complaint would go to one of the Managing Directors. I then found a text number and so sent a couple of texts goading the Cotswold company to respond to me. I received one back at 23.07 from Andrew Shapin (Managing Director?) saying that he would look into the compliant and contact me the next day by 11.00. On 15/9, by 11.00, I had received no contact and so went onto the Cotswold website to read all their lovely customer commendations and leave a message of my own somewhat contradicting those views. I eventually got a call from Andrew Shapin at 15.00 and explained that I was looking for compensation for my wife who had needlessly taken 2 days off work (at a rough cost of £175/day aftre tax). Andrew stated that they didnt pay such compensation and explained that they had recently switched delivery companies and agreed with one of his operators who told me that they were undergoing some 'major teething problems.' He then offered to deliver the item to me at cost price (50% off) at atime to suit me so I requested the 22/9 after 17.00 to prevent my wife from having to take another days wasted leave. 18/9 at 12.30 Gemma called to say that she could not yet confirm the 22/9 delivery date but that she would keep trying and would call back again today (she didnt). 19/9 at 11.30 Gemma called to say she was still waiting. on 20/9 at 15.30 Gemma called to say that they dont do deliveries on a Friday (which somewhat explains the original delivery date of 8/9 being a wasted days holiday for my wife) and that they could only offer me Tuesday or Thursday. I checked with my wife and called Cotswold back - I waited 12 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 26 minutes before eventually getting through to Gemma before being cut off! Called again at 21.00 and spoke to ever so truthful Iffy and asked him to get Emma to call me back the next day. On 21/9 by 14.30 I had received no call so called Cotswold and spoke to Sharon and asked her to pass a message on to Gemma that we would like a morning delivery on 3/10. On 25/9 my wife received a call from a delivery company asking her if they could deliver on 28/9 - my wife called Cotswold and waited 10 minutes before speaking to Gemma and asking her waht was going on - Gemma said she would find out and call back. 26/9 and Gemma called me to confirm 3/10 but couldnt yet confirm an am/pm slot. Gemma called on 2/10 to confirm a 07.30-14.00 delivery and that they would call 1 hour beforehand. On 2/10, at 19.30 my wife was called by the delivery company asking if they could deliver the product in 5 minutes. She agreed and so 30 minutes later they arrived and attempted to deliver a very large box about 7 foot long. My wife disputed that the product was that big but the delivery driver was insistent - until my wife pointed out that it was someone elses name and address on the box. They then returned with a box with my wifes name and address on it which she accepted. So, despite that fact that it was a day early, we eventually had our product which I opened up tonight to construct - to find only half the product was in the box. The delivery compnay had failed to deliver the 2nd of 2 boxes! I have therefore called Cotswold (Ed) to cancel the order and ask Gemma to call me tomorrow so we can all have a damn good belly laugh over the amount of time and effort I have wasted dealing with this incompetent company
