Compulsive Liar

The shrinks say I am a compulsive liar. They are right. My first instinct is to lie. Sometimes even to my own detriment. It’s a defensive mechanism I guess. Now only if someone can please explain it to all those girls who think I knowingly do it. In truth, I learnt it when I was very young. My old man was a grifter and he was always schmoozing his way through trouble. Didn’t even know I was learning from him until I bilked him of his getaway cash. He still sends me money and believes it wasn’t my fault that he lost the money.

Accepting/believing your condition is a biological trait is a cop out. This is learned behavior. What person is expected to just accept and forgive your lying ways because you didn't know you were doing it. If that's your argument, you're not just a compulsive liar. You have behavioral and psychological problems too. Sounds to me like you like the excitement of another person's life not your own. And that you are not strong enough to face the consequences of your own actions/decisions. I hope you get the help you need. That's no way to live your life my friend.

Hard to believe anyone lies by default but that's an interesting trait. You can make a good carrier as a spy or marketing executive.
