Black Lexus Paint Poor

2005 RX 330 Lexus in black lacks clear coat to protect against minor scratches. Visited the dealer at Nalley Lexus in Roswell, GA and the service writer told me that the clear coat is not applied to black because the car had previous problems fading to gray. When I called Lexus in California to complain that was not disclosed to me, they denied that it was the case. Someone at Lexus is not telling the truth. Has anyone else had similar problems?
