DON'T buy from BEST PRICE CAMERA .com! SONY DCR-SR100 I just purchase a HDD Sony DCR-SR100 video camera from: Best Price Cameras (bestpricecamera.com). Unfortunetly,I have recieved the worst customer support and extremely rude salesman and manager that I ever did business with. WHAT HAPPENED? On Friday 10/27/06 I called Best Price Camera's after doing exstensive research, I found a site on Google's search engine and found a wide range of prices and companies to use. I'd seen the range from $465 up to $1,000. I chose to go with this company because it was first on Google's search engine (so I figured they would have been reviewed by Google and should be trustworthy). I called and asked about their special on Sony's DCR-SR100 for $599 (which as advertised also included a light as a bonus). The sales representative told me no problem, and then he tried to up sell me additional 'kits' that would be in a package price totaling $719. Great only an extra $120 for the camera, UL and UV lense, a tripod, a bag, LCD protector, a lense cleaner and a 5 hour battery. But a charger is seperate, and they come either as a 6 hour charger ($100) or 'today's special,' a battery re-charger that charges in 90 minutes (down from $200 to $150). Although I was on a budget, I figured I would get the 90 minute re-charger, and return it I changed my mind, I had the weekend to think about it, and once it came, I could always send it back, right? What if I found it cheaper over the weekend. The least of my worries. BIG MISTAKE! The 'Sony HDD DCR-SR100' packages are decieving. In my case the salesman left out several factures into the pricing and packaging of the camera. NUMBER 1: If you buy the package, you do not get the original battery that lasts for about 2 hours, but you only get the extended life battery that comes in it's own package with the camera. WHAT? NUMBER 2: The original does come with a re-charger that directly connects to the camera, but you can option like I did, get the rapid re-charger and still be stuck having to plug it into the camera to re-charge (you CANNOT RE-CHARGE THE BATTERY SEPERATELY, IT MUST STILL BE PLUGGED INTO THE CAMERA TO CHARGE). 'You can go to any retail dealer and pick-up a re-chager that can be plugged into the wall outlet for around $50.' Buyer Beware. NUMBER 3: When I originally placed my order, I asked as many questions I could think of; of course you always forget to be specific on a few things. I asked the representative if I could get something different then the 'tripod' offered in Kit #2. He said no problem, what do you want? I said for either the wide angel lens or a telescopic lens.' He told me to hold on while he checks. When he came back he asked me, which one, I told him the telescopic lens, and he said no problem. But there was no telescopic lens when I got the package, in fact when I called back, they told me I was a 'liar', their representative never said that; but there was no tripod in the package either. Their reply was, 'My representative only made $14.95 off the deal, what did you expect? Us just to give you a lense?' I replied yes, or why else did you not send me the tripod, if there wasn't a change? At that point, I was being yelled at by the 'MANAGER' as he put it, 'You got what you got, if you don't like it, send it back, and we will charge you a 15% restocking fee, but I don't have the time to talk to you about this, it is what it is.' You cannot just send the rapid re-charger, you have to send the whole camera and all, because it is a kit and we'll charge you 15% restocking fee.' So now it would cost me around $140 to restock, plus SH. I am out almost $200 with that option, but what choice do I have? Either keep the camera (and not get what I was promised, or send it back, and start again $200 in the hole already)? NUMBER 4: When I recieved the camcorder (it came in just 3 days, excellent) but it was missing what they promised me). So, I called to ask them about what I felt was a discrepency with my order. When I got a hold of someone at BEST PRICE CAMERA's,I asked them why I did not get the original basic battery and the basic charger that normally comes with the camera? Instead, I recieved only the upgraded battery, and the upgraded re-chargerer (that needs to be plugged into the camera to work) in the kit. THEY REPLIED: What do you want from me? I gave you what you asked for, and if you would have asked me, I would have told you that, but you didn't. This is how we make our money, we sell our camcorders as box sets with the option to buy upgradeable sets, and if you wanted a seperate battery we'll sell you one at our cost + SH, and if you want a wall charger we'll sell you that + SH. Otherwise what do expect from us? The representative only made $14.95 from this order.' Of course now I know that I could have picked up a rapid wall re-charger for $50-$60 bucks at any retail store and saved myself $100. Buyer-Beware!!!! To all! Beware of who, what, and were you buy from. BEST PRICE CAMERA'S .com IS OUT TO GET YOU. They mentioned to me at least 3x that their representative is only making $14.95 off this deal. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ME???? I AM A CUSTOMER, I BUY FROM YOU, I DON'T SET YOUR PRICES, NOR DO I SET YOU COMMISSIONS. I JUST WANT WHAT I WAS TOLD I WOULD RECIEVE!!!! THEY FAILED TO DO SO, IN FACT THEY WENT SO FAR AS CALL ME A LIAR, AND HUNG UP ON ME! To all, best wishes, happy shopping and avoid at your safety, buying from BEST PRICE CAMERA's .com! David Ravitz
