Being Gay Is Hard

I grew up in a non accepting-gay surrounding. I came out at the end of my high school life, because my entire life I was ridiculed for being a "faggot." My parents always would say hurtful things to me like "Why are you doing this to us, this is unacceptable" and things of that nature. From elementary to highschool, I was bullied and was known as the faggot kid. I was that kid that everyone picked on for many reasons. I was shoved into lockers, someone shoved me to the ground and "watch where your going faggot" and everyone laughed at me. I just wonder why I cant I be accepted for what I am by the people that are closest to me?

I've spent a good part of my life defending kids like you against bullies. I wish we had been in the same school. You would not have been bullied because I would have protected you everyday! God bless you, my friend!!!

It's a damn shame but it's just the world we live in. People are ignorant, and ignorance breeds hate and contempt. There is nothing wrong with being homosexual or anything of that nature, it's just who you are and you can't help it. There is always going to be hate, but the world is slowly turning into a more gay-friendly place. At the same time you shouldn't really blame the kids or your parents either, as that is just how they were raised to be, and they can't help it either. Just stay strong and stand proud in who you are. Make your voice heard and join the millions of others who are marching for equality. You are gay, and you deserve better.
