I was curious about the whole BDSM whips and chains thing so I browsed a bit online and found a few chat rooms. The chat rooms were just too weirdly role playing for me. I ended up finding out about a rather large BDSM group in the city where I live. I found out they meet out in public so I started going to the restaurant where they met once a month. They were just regular people. I got comfortable with them and they got comfortable with me and invited me to a few parties. At first I was a little freaked but I had a lot of people willing to show me the ropes, in a manner of speaking. Until you have felt the snap of leather against your flesh starting out slowly then increasing it is almost hypnotic. I don't do the master/slave thing but I am considered a "bottom," because I'm just kind of there for the enjoyment and not necessarily the interaction. I have a long way to go and there is so much to try. There is nothing like it. I am completely hooked.

if you s.o. is open to the idea, you can get your need for spankings etc met by another person. if he is uncomfortable with you actually having sex with another person, you can still get the spankings etc but your s.o. can have sex with you during or after.

There's a couple of good on line forums you should check out. Fetlife.com and Literotica.com. Fetlife is more like facebook for kinky people and honestly, I'm not a fan of the place. iI can be excessively juvenile. But Literotica, the BDSM section, is full of experienced, helpful intelligent people. Great place to get advice, vent or read about other people's experiences and situations if you're too shy to actually post. There's a great link to all sorts of reference books and websites which any newbie should have a look at. Try and avoid the General Board section as much as possible on Literotica. It's full of morons and troll. Oh, and welcome to the dark side ;-)
