Back in Y2K I arrived back in Scotland for a short break, whilst in country I decided to open a little savings account for my 3 year old, not much, £100/month, went to the bank I've been with for over twenty years, set up a what they calle d a'Save for it' account, hundred a month. Went back to my expat life, never heard much more about it until recently, I've just returned to the UK after a 9 year expat stint, went to the back to have a review of my fginancial world, guess what? The account I'd opened 6 years ago at 4.25% interest had to my surprise fallen to .67, yep point 67%, since when has the Banlk of England base rate ever been less than one per cent, I'd even understand a wee bit if it tracked the BOE base rate, but dropping the interest rate on a Trust account, (we told you every year, you should read the wee book we sent you' get a grip, who reads that piece of garbage, Banks are taking the piss like never before, taking advantage of you, me, young and old...The Bank of Scotland was once a proud institute, a Bank which once upon a time would never have stooped this low, since the merger with the Halifax it's out to get us all -
