bad travertine

I'am very upset over the purchase and installation of over 6,000 sq ft of travertine tiles totalling more than $50,000.00 for my new house. Since we moved in, we have been constantly noticing holes all over the tiles, if someone comes to our house wearing high heels they will open new holes and not to long ago a relative of ours almost tripped when her high heel went thru the tile and got stuck in there. When we purchased these tiles we went to several stores and not a single sales rep. advised us of the problems we would have with travertine. As a matter of fact the guy that sold us the stone told us that he had it in his house, and he told us that the one that we were purchasing was one of the best quality because it was all filled and polished, even the installer told us that it was good. How can ayone would want to have something on their floor that you can not even walk on it, because it is so soft that your heels, furniture or any other hard object will open holes. I think that this product should not be allowed to consumers and if it is, it should pass a detailed inspection before it gets to the retailers in order to protect the consumers. Now we are stuck with this nightmare and we don't know for how long we are going to be filling holes. If there is anyone out there with the same situation and I know there is because I have been reading other complaints similar to mine. I will like to know if I should seek legal help.
