Back stabbing from other hair salons who you don't

In small towns that I have worked in the past..... other salons helped out other salons. I have been in this small Washington town for 9 yrs cutting hair and minding my own business.There always seem to be some salon stirring up things with other salons. The other day a client came in and said that a owner of another salon told her friend that I strangled a client and the police were investigating me. At first we all laughed about it...then I realized how that could reflect on my own business. I did not even know who this other salon owner is. Where the hell did they come up with that crazy idea and why? My clients are gold and I treat them like that to. Could they be jealous because my salon does way better than their's........people just amaze me.......I tell ya. What happen to respect in this world?
