Another Apparent Disintegration

Usually I give the younger generation a certain amount of credit and voice, I'm more than willing to play the understanding, highly knowledgable and compassionate big brother. But twice now that has come back to haunt me, first with Ali and now with Dawn . . . here's the uncomfortable reality for almost everyone 21 and under - you have to earn respect rather just expect it. So many of you are given chances to prove that you are not some typically ignorant, immature youngster with tunnel vision. I've been down that road and it doesn't pay a dime. All you end up with is a series of trainwrecks and pity from most people around you or you end up a victim with delusions of grandeur. Either way it doesn't pay, adults can't afford to be reckless dreamers, we have to be somewhat grounded in the real world whether we like it or not. I had hopes that Dawn would be different this time around but the only thing that has changes is that she is in college and still remains without an anchor.

And sometimes you can be respectful and get it thrown back in your face by everyone including family.
