My fiance's childhood was harder than I can possibly imagine. I have learned more from her than anyone could possibly care to know about the evil we humans are capable of carrying out towards one another. I'm complaining here about one thing, that sickens and disgusts me to my very core. She spent some time at a facility called Anoka County Juvenile Center--a hellhole of a jail/ school/ psych-ward 'sheltering' children as young as 11 years old. I'm wondering how many readers know that it's a standard practice for children, CHILDREN, to be thrown in the hole--yeah solitary confinement like adult prisoners, for 24, 48, oh why not, even 72 hours. Little 12 year old girl just keeps on disobeying, man--keeps giving her crying 'classmates' hugs after watching them be abused by the same guard for 3 solid months...well heck...lets throw her in the hole for 6 days. This is how we help little kids who've been physically and/ or sexually abused, molested, harped and picked on, teased and/ or bullied all their lives--we send them to an even more screwed up place and institutionally dehumanize them until they become empty shells devoid of hope, love, and affection. My fiance is possibly them most resilient human in the world--and has somehow found the will to maintain all 3 (hope, love, and affection). Anoka County Juvenile Center, and all other facilities like you you failed to break her spirit, so stop licking your chops...and by the way your days of torturing our troubled youth will come to an end. Your lies and cover-ups are beginning to unravel and every child raped, beaten or just plain emotionally abused will see justice served--one way or another.
