Beware of airport curbside baggage handlers during the holiday season! I was travelling out of LaGuardia airport in New York and had a terrible experience at the curbside check in. I had two suitcases and I thought it would be easier to check in by the curbside. I gave my suitecases to the airport sky cap handling the check in. He said that my bag was overweight by 4 pounds and I would have to pay $50 dollars in cash for the excess weight. I told him that I will go inside and check them at the regular airline check in. He told me that I could not, because he had already put my name in the computer and I would have to handle them with him. I then told him that I did not have $50 dollars in cash and I will take off same jackets from the suitcase and I did! He then asked me for $2.00 for each suitcase, plus tip. I did not have change, so I gave him $20 dollars and waited for my change. He said he waisted too much time with me and $20 is what I should pay him. I got really angry and I told him to give back $14 dollars change and keep $6 for handling and tip. This people that work at the airport for the port authoridy has been taking advantage of the tourists that come to New York. I had to go to my gate and I could not make a complaint with the airport. These people are making thousands of dollars by stealing from holiday travelers. He wanted to make an easy $50 dollars on me, but it did not work. I saw other people going through the same experience next to me.
