A simple fix

With the government spending about 1.3 trillion more than they take in, I think it's high time that we did some simple math. Cut out all but 89 billion of our defense and all but 60 billion of discretionary spending and cut Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare by 10% and we'd have a surplus. Why do we need a 1.5 million person military? Nobody is attacking our shores. We need to scale this shit down NOW or our kids will witness the implosion of our country. We can't afford the luxury of discretionary spending or a huge military.

Once again that's not true. Most of the terrorists were Saudi's, people of a country that sought our protection from Saddam Hussein. Saudi Arabia is an independent country that operates in it's own interests. It has grown rich selling it's oil. We pay a high price for that oil. If we were actually controlling the Saudi's and other small OPEC countries then we would be getting rich off the oil instead of them. Even Bin Laden's wealth came from his families privileged connection with the Saudi royal family. 9/11 happened because we are a threat to Al-Qaeda's brand of Islam by our very existence. Our culture with it's freedom and tolerance for a variety of view points, religions and life styles opposes their ideology. America by it's success as a culture has influenced change in pattern's of thought and behavior all over the world, and Al-Qaeda fears this and consequently wants to destroy us. It's interesting that you say 'Fuck Japan, Taiwan and South Korea' and others for trusting us to help protect them when the crux of your argument is that we don't help other countries we just 'stick our nose into their business.' You'd do better relying on your original argument that the cost of US military involvements isn't worth the return rather than the incorrect view that we are the bad guys.

Fuck Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea! They can pay for their own defense! Same with any of the other countries that we are playing world cop in. 9/11 happened because we are sticking our nose into other countries business. We need to take care of our own borders. That's it. All we need is a skeleton crew with a bunch of reserves that can be called up if needed.

You really don't know what brought our economy up or will bring it down do you.

Glad to know that 9/11 didn't happen. Glad to know that the US goverrment is getting rich from all that oil we're stealing from other countries instead of Iran, the Saudis, Hugo Chavez, the Russians and others who hate us. Glad to know the Taiwanese, the South Koreans and the Japanese don't want our assistance anymore. Glad to know the world can be left to the good graces of Syria, Libya, Hamas, Hezbollah. Glad to know that the Russians gave the east Europeans their freedom and left western Europe alone out of the kindness of their hearts. Glad to know that the thousands of Vietnamese boat people left their country so that they could spread the word of the loving treatment given to them by their communist dictators. Glad to know that the Chinese only steal American military secrets so that they can make sure that their citizens don't mistakenly criticize their government or practice their religious beliefs. Glad to know that the Tibetans have never been happier than when Chinese weapons corrected their wrong thinking and taught them that they really belong to China. Glad to know that Canadians actually live in fear of us. Glad to know that the Mexicans, the Asians, the Europeans, the Africans and all the others that endured great hardships just to come here weren't really interested in freedom and a better life.

noone bothers the US in terms of military, US tries to bother others to show its power. And that is what brings it down. US searches for oil in different countries and wants to dominate them and those small countries together and slowly bring the US economy down

Social Security and Medicare need to be gradually phased our all together. It's not up to the government to take care of us; we should be responsible for ourselves. As for the military, instead of fighting wars to establish new government's in enemy territory such as Afghanistan, it would be more effective and cheaper just to tear them apart and then leave. They won't bother us again after that.
