On June 29, 2006 at 11:l0 A.M., I received a call from a man that said his name was Norm Phelps. I was asleep, and failed to check out my caller ID. He told me that I had won $750,000 and mentioned Western Union. I said, I know nothing about Western Union and, as far as I know the only one that is in town Is downtown on Second St. I have never had any dealings with them. He said, well have you entered your name in a sweepstakes? I told him, no, that I didn't get involved with anything I had to put my name, address, etc. on. He said, well this is for real. I told him that I did not believe it because there were so many scams going on. He said, well if you want me to I can call your attorney. I should have told him to hold on and I could have gotten his phone number but, I told Mr. Phelps that that was not necessary. He said, Eed Ex will deliver it to your door; however, there will be one thing before you can validate the check. You will have an administration fee to pay. I went along with him, and asked him about how much it would be. He said, are you going to be home later on during the day. I said yes. He said, I will call you back and I can tell you then. He said he was calling from Ontario, Canada. He said, you could call me and began to give ma a phone number and stopped. He said, let me give you my toll free number which was 1-866-235-1213. He then said, don't go around telling this to a lot of people. When i hug up the phone, I came into my bedroom to check the caller ID and it was a Memphis Number, 901-312-9828, NTERA, INC.--MEMPHIS I then called Better Business Bureau. I started telling the girl who I was and that I had reeived a call from someone saying I had won $175,000 ---- and she said, and they were going to Fed Ex it to you and started telling me a lot of the things he had told me. She said, they had done dozens of people this way and had been doing it for 2 years. I am not senile, yet, however; a lot of people would fall for this scam. This is just a shame.
